Isn’t Mercedes killing the X Class due to low sales?

Sadly fortunately...no. However, GM don’t have a development partner for a mid size pickup and neither FCA or PSA have a mid size pickup (no the Wrangler thing doesn’t count because it has the payload of a marshmallow and a laughable list price)...so you never know!
M-B, on the other hand, have already seen the error of their way...

Mercedes shouldn’t of even done it.
What with the Nissan Navara/Isuzu D-Max , Fi at Fullback/ Mitsubishi L200, Ford Ranger, Ssangyong Musso, Toyota HiLux and VW Amorak.

FCA is merging with PSA (Peugeot), not Renault. FCA was in talks with Renault earlier this year but that fell through.

The Gladiator has a payload capacity of up to 1600 lbs. That platform can easily be applied to a conventional pickup.
The crew cab Tacoma 4WD has an 1100 lbs payload and they still sell a ton of them.

It could...but it won’t. Like I said...too expensive. Epecially since it won’t be made anywhere else than America. But, crucially, it will never have the on road handling characteristics required of a mid size ute in most markets...
